Hello all,

This has probably been asked before but how does one become a letting agent. I am a landlord and let them all myself, but if I wanted to do this fulltime how does one start? Are there any courses or exams that one should sit? I am a member of the NLA do you require to be a member of any other organisations as such.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Crazy as it may seem you do not need any qualifications or training to become a letting agent although both are highly advisable if you wish to come across as being professional.

ARLA and NAEA are due to join together. Look at NALS also as a governing body. All provide good training.

I'm an ex part owner of a then 7 office 60 staff operation (Sold the business). It gets more difficult the larger you get but can still be a complex game for one office agents. A good software package takes the headache out of a lot of admin chores.

Am I going to go back into lettings - no thanks - had 10 hard but successful years of it. That's enough for most!
