General (main property discussion here) - subsidence postcodes

Hi, has anyone invested in areas like sutton in ashfield, the postcode is rated high for subsidence and many properties have had work carried out under the British coal provision, it seems that these are difficult to insure or that the premiums are very expensive any comments or thoughts would be appreciated as I would avoid going to completion if there are problems with insurance or resale, speedy comments would be appreciated. Thanks Simon, I have spoken to insurers its obviously a more specialist market and some companies will not touch subsidence properties. Most others will do it only with a structural report. Premiums can be up to £500 on £88,000 reinstatment values. I was just wondering if anyone had properties were there had been work carried out due to subsidence and there experience with insurance companies and relative costs. regards Alistair

Sorry Alistair, I misread your first post.I cannot help you,but I saw a television advert for Hiscocks(Not too sure about spelling)and they say they will insure things that other companies will not deal with.Could be worth a look.

Alistair, It is HISCOX,but I don't think it will help.It is more for business and personnel indemnity.Sorry.
