Hi, Im a student looking to complete an asignment on marketing property for investment purposes - the brief is to promote 20 student let flats with approx 140 bedrooms in south London (Think location has been chosen because of Thames Gateway and Olympics?)

I dont need specifics, but has anyone got any advice i can use as a steer as to the type of advertising that would be apt?

any (Really, ANY) advice would be much appreciated.

Nigel,

What an excellent assignment! A very good learning tool fo us all. It would be great to read your final work, and I guess a lot of us will learn some new tricks!

As with all forms of marketing you need a budget for something as large as your 140 property business. How much do you have to play with? That’s always the best place to start: know how much money you have.

If the answer is zero, then your best bet is window advertising, word of mouth, fly-posting (not a good idea in London!) and favour advertising in student union mags / flyers. My last (free) resort would be an agency.

Give a budget, which you can “assume” for the purposes of the business… and more specific ideas can be looked at. Remember it all comes form your profits, but there is always tax deductibility....

If you can't get a page on the University website (which would be best, but unlikely)links in approriate places on the site to your webpage should ensure a good hit rate. In this day and age I would have thought the internet would be the first stop for a student.

I would also be thinking in the areas of overseas embassies, particularly of less well developed countries and perhaps UCCA, National Union of Students etc.

Nigel,

How is it going?

I just learned about this: www.thePropertyAd.com

You can post free property adverts with pictures on. You can also monitor how many views/responses achieved:
