Hello

Does anyone know what a section 106 is? Is it a good thing? London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham have given me on option on a property of mine that to retain the current planning then I should have a section 106. I have asked them for information on a Section 106 but they do not have any!!!!

Many thanks

Jasprit

Jasprit,

Firstly, you should write to the council and tell them that you are not satisfied with their level of service in not being able to define their own section-106 planning obligations. Then you should also point out that as a council-tax payer you expect a higher standard than ignorance, and what are they going to do in the next 7 days to rectify this situation?

For your own knowledge go to:

http://www.oldham.gov.uk/s106_good_practice_guide.pdf#search='section%20106%20planning'

This site contains the FULL section 106 for Oldham Met. Borough. You will get a good understanding of these obligations. You might actually ask your council to look at it so they can learn something.

I’m not being negative here, it just really gets me angry that councils take every penny they can screw out of us at a local tax level and then give very little back…

Best wishes, Malik
