Does anyone have a process, model or checklist for when converting a house into flats. I am looking at converting a house into flats, I have an idea of what is required but I am sure that there are some areas where I have not accurately assessed or completely missed out.

Hi mate.

Your main items are Electrics, Gas, Plumbing will all need splitting. You will need second Electrical and Gas supplies comming into the property. Ref to Plumbing the plumber can just T from the existing stoptap.

You will need to comply with Fire and Sound, usually if you comply with Sound then this will also satisfi fire regs. You will need 2 means of escape from each flat, usually a door and a fire escape window. Smoke detectors with lights wired to the mains.

A good architect should be used, a bad one will cost you money. Trust me ive been there and sacked him and went with my orriginal plans, i.e. convert outside toilet and outhouse to bathroom, he told me not to as this could lead to problems, asshole. I checked the toilet and it was fine he was just to lazy. Try to work with what you already have, make anything good i.e. outhouses, outside toilets and stuff.
