I am thinking of converting my house into two flats and got a quote of several builders, when talking to them about it they told me that i do not have to ask permission off my lender to do this even if i have a mortgage.

I just split the deeds at the end and carrying on paying the mortgage or pay it off. surely this can't be right I was sure i would have to ask the lender 1st!

any of you guys out there know anything about this?

Thanks Jordan xx.

your builder is wrong as the ledners interest will be at risk if your project fails. There are other factors for the lender to consider as well.

However ive recently dont just that and i did not seek permission.

Make sure you get planning permission from the local authority 1st. My borough has a housing moritorium in place until 2011 not allowing any more dwellings - you are effectively creating another home/dwelling even though nothing extra is built. Crazy system!!
