I have just registered with the Landlord Trader site and read your thread.

I'm yet to get into the property game, but have been going through the property club route, with discounts etc and the promise of portfolio building.

There is so much info out there that I'm unsure which is the best route, DIY or agents. I've been impressed with 1st Proprty Investments and Your Property Club so far.

If you have any impartial advice or views, I'd appreciate it.

All the best,

Chris Fletcher

chris,

my suggestion is to stay local and play safe. try to buy in an area you understand and know will rent well. unless you live in London this should hopefully be achievable for you.

go to a mortgage broker, solicitor and letting agents you trust. take things slow at first.

once you have done your first BTL you will learn the ropes yourself the proper way first then you can seek to invest further a field chasing higher yields or better capital growth. but you will only be able to do this once you have a base knowledge,

also keep a close eye on this forum, try to obtain as much free help as you can from resources like this site and also think about joining a landlord organisation like the RLA or NLA.

hope that helps.

Thanks Tom.

I'm using the LT forum and have learnt a great deal already.

Some of the other users are posting interesting deals and I'm pursuing two of these at the moment.

Cheers,

Chris.

Chris

the key with anything whether you buy yourself or through an agent - is do your research.

If you're happy that it stacks, rental demand is there and area is ok - then buy it.

good luck Matthew

Thanks Matt. Just need to take that chance when I see it.
